This is a good week for Buff Bradley. This is a damn good week. The hard-boot trainer, who learned to care for his horses like they were members of the family from his father, Fred, is driving back to Louisiana to pick up and bring home one of his most favorite friends — The Player. “I can’t wait to get him home,” Buff said on Sunday. “It has been so long. I just can’t wait to finally get him back.” It will be a great homecoming. It was nearly 6 long months ago when The Player — a quirky, personable, talented, and often talkative 5-year-old horse — was injured while making a nice run midway through the final turn of the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap at the Fair Grounds.
